Insulation Refractory Castable is unlike dense castables such as 1700STD, as it is very lightweight, low density and has low thermal conductivity. Its maximum service temperature is 1300oC. Its applications include lining foundry furnaces and being used as insulation backing material for dense castables e.g. for 1700STD. It may also be used to make Insulation Plinths or Insulation Boards.
